The Windmill Winery is unlike any other place in Pinal County. On the outskirts of Florence, it is hailed as one of the best wedding venues in the state. The hideaway property transports you to a dream with two lakes, abundant greenery, a tasting room and two special venues — a 100 year-old barn and Hampton’s style lake house.
The winery also is open to the public if you are looking for a special place to hang out with friends as the winery hosts live music in the evenings for the Saturday summer series.
Acoustic guitarist Warren Young has been performing at the Windmill Winery for six years and is a regular for the summer series.
“The crowds are nice, very laid-back,” Young says. “Everyone can drink some wine and enjoy themselves, and for me it is way better than playing at restaurants.”
Young says the evening weather, with the breeze from the lake and the shade from the trees, is usually cooperative at the winery and the music will be out in the courtyard. On especially hot days, it’s brought inside.
Young, who is also a resident of Casa Grande, says he didn’t know about the winery prior to performing but he found it “amazing” the moment he arrived.
“I walked in and thought ‘my gosh, is this Pinal County?’,” Young says. “It’s just so beautiful here.”
